Glow-worm Models We Repair in London

Glow-worm Energy Combi

The Glow-worm Energy combi range is the current production model and one of the most widely installed replacement boilers across London’s social housing stock. Available in 25kW, 30kW and 35kW outputs, the Energy combi suits flats and houses up to four bedrooms. It is manufactured by the same group as Vaillant and shares many components, which means we can source parts quickly and carry the most common ones on the van. The Energy combi comes with a standard seven year warranty and is fully ErP A rated for efficiency.

Glow-worm Flexicom

The Flexicom range was widely installed across London from around 2005 to 2015. The Flexicom 18cx, 24cx and 30cx are the combi models most commonly seen in London properties of this era. At this age these boilers are reaching the point where major component failures become more frequent. The most commonly needed repairs on the Flexicom range are the diverter valve assembly, the gas valve, and the printed circuit board. We attend Flexicom breakdowns regularly across London and carry the necessary components.

Glow-worm Betacom

The Betacom is the entry level combi from Glow-worm and was fitted in large numbers across London’s private rental sector during the 2010s due to its low purchase price. The Betacom 24c and 30c are the most common outputs. While not the most feature rich boiler, it is a reliable unit when serviced. The most frequently reported fault on Betacom boilers is the F75 pressure change fault, which is the same pressure sensor issue seen on Vaillant models given their shared engineering heritage.

Glow-worm Compact

The Glow-worm Compact range dates from the early 2000s and represents some of the oldest Glow-worm boilers we still service in London. These are heat only boilers rather than combis, working with a separate hot water cylinder. At over twenty years old, many of these boilers are at or past the end of their economically viable service life, but where the rest of the heating system is in good condition they can still be worth repairing for a few more years. We give an honest assessment of repair versus replacement on every Compact we attend.

Common Glow-worm Fault Codes

F1 on older Glow-worm models is a general lockout that can result from several underlying faults. The boiler has detected an unsafe condition and shut down. The fault needs investigation to identify the specific cause rather than simply resetting.

F22 on Energy and Flexicom models means low water pressure, the same code used on the Vaillant range given their shared components. The system pressure has dropped below minimum. Repressurise using the filling loop and reset. If it keeps happening, there is a system leak.

F28 is an ignition fault. The boiler failed to establish a flame within the ignition period. This is typically an ignition electrode or gas valve issue and we carry the parts for both on the van.

F75 is the pressure change fault, indicating the pump or pressure sensor has not confirmed circulation at startup. Pump or pressure sensor replacement resolves this in the majority of cases.

Glow-worm Boiler Servicing in London

An annual service keeps a Glow-worm running at peak efficiency and maintains the manufacturer warranty on models still within the warranty period. We carry out a full combustion analysis, burner and heat exchanger inspection, safety device check and flue inspection on every Glow-worm service. We provide a written service record on completion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a Glow-worm boiler worth repairing?

For Energy and Flexicom models under ten years old, a repair is usually the right call for all but the most expensive component failures. For older Compact range boilers, we will give you an honest assessment based on the age, fault type and cost of a replacement. We do not push unnecessary replacements.

Do you carry Glow-worm parts?

Yes. We stock parts for the Energy, Flexicom and Betacom ranges. The Glow-worm and Vaillant ranges share components in several areas, which makes parts availability good and often means same day repair is possible.
