Common Ideal Logic Faults in London
F1 — Low Water Pressure
F1 is the low pressure lockout on the Ideal Logic. The pressure gauge has dropped below the minimum and the boiler has shut down for safety. Locate the filling loop, usually a silver braided hose with two blue valves under the boiler, open both slowly until the gauge reads 1.2 to 1.5 bar, close both and reset the boiler. If pressure keeps dropping, there is a system leak. We locate and repair system leaks as standard.
F2 — Overheat or High Limit Thermostat
F2 on the Ideal Logic indicates the boiler has detected an overtemperature condition. The most common causes in London properties are a pump that is slowing with age and not moving enough water through the heat exchanger, or limescale deposits on the heat exchanger surfaces reducing flow and causing localised overheating. Both are diagnosed and repaired on the first visit in most cases.
F4 — Ignition Failure
F4 means the boiler attempted to ignite and failed within the ignition period. The most common cause is electrode wear. The Logic’s ignition electrode is a straightforward replacement and we carry the correct part for all Logic outputs. A clean and properly gapped electrode resolves F4 faults in the large majority of cases. If the fault persists after electrode replacement, we check gas valve operation and inlet pressure.
Diverter Valve Wear
On Ideal Logic boilers of seven or more years, the diverter valve can wear and start to pass between circuits, causing either poor hot water delivery when the heating is running or the heating running when only hot water is called for. We carry diverter valve assemblies for all Logic outputs. Replacement resolves this cleanly.
Ideal Logic Max — 10 Year Warranty
The Logic Max comes with ten years warranty as standard, making it one of the best value long warranty boilers on the London replacement market. No additional registration process beyond standard installation is required for the ten year warranty, which is a significant advantage over some competitors that require additional steps to unlock their longest warranty periods. We install and service the Logic Max across London, ensuring the warranty conditions are met from day one.
